How temperament and its types determine a person’s character

To understand who is in front of you sometimes you do not need to know his name, hobbies, or profession. A general idea of the man can be made, knowing what his temperament. It is he who is the basis of the character of the person, its interactions with other people, the reactions to the surrounding reality.

In psychology, temperament and its species are the basis for studying the behavioral reactions of people. The first use of the concept of temperament in his work, the Russian scientist Pavlov, who identified three properties of the central nervous system: strength, balance, mobility excitation and inhibition. Later his theory was criticized and some changes were made.

There are four basic types of temperament:

  • sanguine;
  • choleric;
  • melancholic;
  • phlegmatic.

Their ordinary behavior is very clearly illustrated by this picture:

Of course, all of them in pure form in nature simply can not exist. So you can not find a sanguine without an admixture of phlegmatic, for example. All the divisions into groups in this case is very relative and may vary from person to person.

Who are the sanguines?

The most cheerful of all is the sanguine. He is drawn to everything new: whether it is people or events. For the sanguine to be open to all and everything is a normal state. Failures he is experiencing quite easily, and their successes in a hurry to share with all. To sanguine do not get bored, he should always set goals and achieve them.

Since childhood, these people need to accustom the discipline and consistency. Otherwise they grow up superficial and frivolous people.

Who are the cholerics?

The choleric is essentially the same as the sanguine, only nervous. He is easily irritated, ready for a fight at any second. This temperament and its types are inherent in people – leaders by nature.

Choleric very easy to get a new idea. In doing so, he will be so absorbed in it that he will not notice anything around him. Of a man of this type will be an excellent leader, who will lead his company to the top of various rankings, but because of his fiery temper, he can never bathe in the love of subordinates. Unfortunately, for a choleric, being rude or having a temper is almost the norm.

Who are the melancholics?

The melancholic is a nature with a delicate mental organization. He is capable of long worries, failures for him become an obstacle to further action.

This temperament and its species inherent in slow people who are not able to clearly express their emotions. It is very difficult to adapt to new people and surroundings, his adaptation to the team can take a long time, and in some cases do not end at all. Melancholics do not know how to express their emotions, so we can say that they almost always look sad or upset about something.

Who are the phlegmatics?

A phlegmatic is somewhat reminiscent of a melancholic. He is also very slow. About these people they say: “Sleeping on the go”.

This temperament and its types does not allow its owner to express fully their emotions and feelings. In contrast to the melancholic his mood is rather calm than depressed. Phlegmatic sincerely attached to people, work, so he gives very hard changes in his life, and he does not always go for them.

Such concepts as temperament and personality are inextricably linked. It is the temperament largely determines the personality. However, do not think that all people can be divided into four categories. This classification is very arbitrary and allows a little simplification of the system to study the human essence.

In the world there is no one perfect sanguine or phlegmatic. In every person can live a few temperaments, which appear depending on the situation. Nevertheless, dividing people by temperament helps to understand the reasons for their behavior and actions, to find an approach to them.
