This is more comfortable, given that I have night shift enabled in my devices, which already makes the screen a bit orange (or rather removes the blue spectrum, which I’ve talked about before).

Also, when using these glasses, don’t forget to follow general doctor’s recommendations. In particular, it’s better to blink more often (because long work at the computer dries out the eyes), and also to take small breaks. Of course, biohacker glasses will not solve all your problems with vision, concentration and fatigue, but they will make these problems much less than they could be.

And one more piece of advice (especially if you get glasses for children). An acquaintance of mine bought such computer glasses for his child, but he had one problem: they bought them, but they forgot to take care of them. I looked at these glasses and realized that they are very dirty. The child apparently did not care, I think he thought they should be. In short, let me remind you that excessive “garbage” light disturbs human circadian rhythms. So the “blue-blocker” glasses just struggle against garbage light.

There are also glasses, which block not completely, but partially the blue spectrum, and they can be worn even during the day. It is believed that there is so much of this blue spectrum around us that it has a negative effect on people. So you can wear them in the daytime as well. For example, you went to the mall and there are bright lights at every turn. Although on the street in the daytime they probably should not be worn.

These glasses should be put on immediately after waking up and worn for 30 minutes. They block the production of melatonin (previous glasses, on the contrary, increased the production). Since melatonin is a sleep hormone, you do not need it in the morning.

Such glasses are relevant in the wintertime, when it may still be dark outside in the morning. In natural sunlight this hormone is destroyed, but when there is no light, then these glasses imitate this light and the brain understands that that’s it, it’s time to get up.

I will say right away that these glasses are expensive. These are the most expensive of all three pairs of glasses that I have. I bought them for $250. So if you are on a tight budget, then leave the purchase of such glasses for the future.

But if you are seriously into self-development and biohacking ideas, you should definitely have such a gadget in your arsenal. Melatonin-blocking glasses use green light of a certain wavelength to optimize the nervous system and inhibit melatonin secretion by stimulating the suprachiasmatic nucleus. Such inhibition continues even after the light signal ceases and may last for several hours.

Alas, these glasses, as expensive and sophisticated as they are, will not solve all your sleep problems. Consider them simply as an extra help for your brain, but don’t expect any miraculous effects. If you do not have 250 dollars to buy this gadget, then I recommend you to do the following: buy these glasses where there is an opportunity to return the product and money for free for some time, or where there are 3-7 days for a test-drive. Try them during that time and then decide if the glasses help you or not. If not, just return them.

And as for the summer time, instead of these glasses, it is better to just go outside or on the balcony and soak up the sunlight for a few minutes – the effect will be even better. Still, for our body, there is nothing better than natural things. And these glasses are helpers exactly in those periods when there is no sun in the morning.
