The backstage of Instagram. What’s really behind the flashy photos?

Today Instagram is the world’s largest library of family photos. People willingly post pictures of themselves, their loved ones, relatives, children, cats and dogs, etc.
It’s not bad, but… Such rapid popularity of this social network led to the fact that people began not only to post photos, but also to deceive each other. And it’s not just about enhancing photos with filters and Photoshop. Insta-bloggers have gone even further – they have started to fake backgrounds and objects.
We’re sure you’ve already come across amazing selfies, photos of pairs, children, pets, whose authenticity raises doubts. And you are right to doubt.
What’s really behind the amazing Instagram pics?
Brazilian photographer Gilmar Silva is one of popular insta-bloggers. It has over 1 million subscribers. He has opened up the professional behind the scenes and shown that these sweet moments are not at all what they seem from the beginning. And it’s not even about Photoshop and other graphic editors! It’s about the actual filming process.
Silva called his photography project LugarxPhoto (“place and photography”). This is how he describes the purpose of his project:
It is both a humorous look at how far we are willing to go to get beautiful photographs and an analysis of the illusions we perpetuate and are willing to follow, even knowing they are false.
With this series, Silva hopes to demonstrate the importance of location and angles, focus and lighting, which are then only refined in Photoshop.
According to Silva, a good photographer is not just a professional with a lot of experience in his field, but also a little bit of a magician.
LugarxPhoto is a clear illustration of how many photographers work today (they just won’t admit it 🙂 ). This is the backstage of Instagram. It’s a project that opens the screen behind the scenes of many popular Instagram photos and shows what were the real conditions for taking those colorful photos that you admire every day.
In an effort to show his clients at their best, Silva is willing to go to any lengths: lying on wet sand for hours, climbing tall trees, even photographing and holding sets simultaneously – all in pursuit of one beautiful shot.
However, sometimes even the right angle is not enough to get the desired result, and real magic is used to turn an inconspicuous background into a breathtaking landscape, proving that you only need to use your imagination to get stunning results.
Do you agree that below is the impressive picture of an infant who supposedly fell asleep in a piece of beautiful fabric? The main thing is to have time to take a photo while the baby is sleeping: put him properly, his hand properly, his leg properly…
No, dear readers. We have been deceived again. It’s all a masterful photomontage. It’s a good thing they don’t forget to put the baby on the blanket.
What do you think of this great picture on the beach? Would you like to have one just like it?
And here the poor child was forced to film right on the side of the road, in roadside dust. But in the Instagram photo she walks on a sunny lawn.
Puddles are a favorite place not only for Brazilian photographers, but for photographers from all developing countries. Well, it’s not easy to find a beautiful and clean coast in a poor country. But there are a lot of puddles. And the bigger the puddle, the better.
Even the cutest labrador can ruin all the preparation for a shot. That’s why in such cases models are shot separately and then put together in Photoshop.
Well, the deception behind the staging of this photo for Instagram is amazes with its arrogance.
Another puddle. Photoshopped again. No decency!
How can he shoot photo like that on SUCH background?
This one is my favorite. Did you really believe that the photographer had time to capture the flying champagne cork?
I wouldn’t go into a body of water like that at all.
No bride in the world, even the happiest one, can fly. In the picture she is helped to do so by the back of another man.
That’s enough of my comments. Just admire the creations of this “maestro” and draw own conclusions.
