Setting the mood for a good day: 4 ways

Setting the mood for a good day: 4 ways

Sometimes it happens that there is no mood for a good day and even the simplest things seem difficult to accomplish. Work causes rejection, and when such a day is over, there is incredible relief.

Although days full of mishaps are inevitable, the right mindset from the very morning helps to get that state of mind in which it is much easier to cope with everyday (and not only) difficulties. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to set yourself up for a good day.

1. Getting Up Early

People who are so-called “owls” will obviously not be happy about this method. Although a lot of studies done can’t lie. They clearly say that people who wake up early in the morning will be much more active throughout the rest of the day.

It is not surprising that the world’s most famous entrepreneurs get up early in the morning. Twitter cofounder Jack Dorsey gets up at 5:30 in the morning to have a meditation session and go for a run. And the director of Starbucks Howard Schultz gets up another hour earlier, goes to the gym and makes it to work by six in the morning.

Naturally, not only entrepreneurs do this, because a good attitude in the morning (it will be a good day if you start it right) helps to get more things done. And if you have a habit of putting off the alarm for a few more minutes in the morning, you can put the phone with the alarm clock at the other end of the room, then you have to get out of bed anyway, just to turn it off.

2. A Good Breakfast

If you want to get a good mood for the day, to energize yourself, breakfast should never be skipped. It reduces the level of the stress hormone (cortisol) and gives you strength for the rest of the day, or at least until lunch.

Breakfast is probably the most important meal of the day, as it affects both your physical performance throughout the day and also creates the mood for a good day. If your morning meal is also healthy and nutritious, it will help reduce your appetite throughout the day and, accordingly, reduce the number of calories you consume.

Eating in the morning also has a serious effect on mental performance and concentration, since if you skip breakfast or a light snack, hunger will prevent you from concentrating properly. You are much more likely to take frequent unhealthy snacks during work hours.

3. Waking up in the REM sleep phase

Everyone knows about the existence of so-called sleep phases. But how exactly can they help create the mood for a good day? And why this phase? Let us explain why.

When a man sleeps, his sleep first goes through a slow sleep phase, then a fast sleep (REM) phase. The slow sleep phase lasts about an hour and a half after falling asleep. It has four stages:

  1. Drowsiness. During it, there is a decrease in muscle activity, pulse rate and breathing, and the eyes may move slowly;
  2. Light sleep. Muscle activity goes down even more, the eyes are already motionless, and consciousness shuts down;
  3. Slow sleep. Muscular activity is reduced to a minimum;
  4. Deep slow sleep. During it, the person sees about 80 percent of his or her dreams, and it is difficult to wake him or her in this stage. Sleepwalking attacks in people suffering from this disease also occur at this time. At the same time all the nightmares during deep slow sleep a person will not remember.

If you wake a man while he is in the slow phase of sleep, he will be somewhat lethargic and absent-minded for a while. This is not the best way to get in the mood for a good day.

A completely different effect occurs if you wake up man in a fast sleep phase, which lasts for about 15-20 minutes at most. A person is in a completely motionless state, with the eyes making chaotic movements. The most vivid dreams come to a person during this phase, and if he is awakened, he is likely to remember the dream in detail.

In order to calculate the best time to set the alarm clock, there are a variety of sleep phase calculators. It is important not to forget that we fall asleep not at the moment when we get into bed and close our eyes. As a rule, it takes about forty minutes to go to the “kingdom of Morpheus”. This, too, is worth taking into account when setting an alarm clock.

4. Sports activities

Regular exercise can have many positive effects. Sports can help to lose extra pounds, as well as to keep weight in check, to fight bad feelings and moods, as exercise stimulates a variety of chemical processes going on in the brain.

A person who exercises, as a rule, is full of energy and self-confidence. The quality of sleep also improves. Exercise in the morning can help set the mood for a good day and achieve greater concentration during work or other activities.

But if you appreciate your morning sleeping hours, you can exercise at any time. In any case, it will help to improve your well-being, sleep and self-confidence. In addition, now there are a huge number of gadgets on the market that will help to optimize your workouts and make them more effective.
